At the dawn of 2024, from January 1, five more countries became full members of the BRICS, a transnational association, which until then consisted of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and thus became BRICS+ (BRICS Plus), totaling ten countries.

The pursuit of amicable solutions holds promise in a society still grappling with the aftermath of conflict. Beyond endorsing peace talks globally, whether in the Middle East, Red Sea or between Russia and Ukraine, I advocate for a comprehensive strategy to restore peace. I implore all parties involved to collaborate and find a solution, recognizing the challenges posed by escalating military tensions with Russia, Ukraine and the Middle East.

Gender-based violence is among the most prevalent human rights violations globally. But instead of declining, gender-based violence has become even more sinister and complex because technology-based and technology-facilitated online gender-based violence is also on an alarming rise.

The Israel-Hamas war has reignited discussions over a two-state solution as an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Side by side at New York’s Metropolitan Museum, this exhibition is a forceful reminder of why Édouard Manet and Edgar Degas were of such revolutionary significance. Manet was the father of modern art according to Clement Greenberg – the Immanuel Kant of painting – because he probes the conditions of painting itself. In fact, this is true of both painters here.
